There are a few things that you will need to do, before you can begin
to use MAXX. First, besides this file, there should be two HyperCard stacks
in the distribution. One called MAXX, the main stack and one stack called
MAXX INTRO. If one(or both) of these stacks are not there, then you will need
to get them. See the address below at the end of this text.
MAXX will create and use a total of 11 ASCII text files that it reads from
and in two cases, MAXX will also write to two of these files. These two
being MAXX_INFO and CAMPUS.COMMENTS. MAXX will store these files in
your HyperCard Folder, along with the HyperCard program/application. MAXX will only read from the other nine(9) files and will not do any modifications to them. You will need to modify these nine files with your favorite text editor...Remember to save the file in ASCII text format.
What you should do to start :
1. Move the MAXX_INTRO and MAXX stacks into your HyperCard folder/disk.
2. Move the cursor over the MAXX_INTRO stack icon and click on the mouse
button twice to start the stack.
3. Once you've gone thru the MAXX_INTRO stack and have understood what
to do, then either exit out of HyperCard and move the cursor over the
MAXX icon and click the mouse button twice, or, in HyperCard, pull down the
"File" menu and select "Open Stack..." option, then elect MAXX and open it.
Both stacks are designed to be easy to go thru and to work with. If you
do find any errors, bugs or other such problems, please do let me know, so
that I can make the corrections.
The main stack, MAXX, can be modified and I've left the stack scripts
available to you to change as you wish. You can move buttons, cards, etc.
as you need, to suit you needs. Please read the script for the stack itself
to get more information. Once you've made the needed changes, make a
backup copy of the stack and then protect the stack to a level you feel
comfortable with (hint: set userlevel to 2 or 3 at the most!).
I would like to hear your feedback(+/-) regarding MAXX and how you plan
to use it(if at all).
Thank you for using MAXX.
